You want to know the dos and don'ts of momma-wedding-wear, so we're spilling the beans!

The day you've been waiting for your entire life has finally arrived! Okay, okay... so it's actually your daughter's big day, but they don't say like mother, like daughter for nothing. Just like the bride, when you heard the news, one of the first things you thought was, “What am I going to wear?” Unlike your daughter, who's torn between three gowns, you still have no clue as to what you'll be rockin' on her big day. Your second question? “What CAN I wear?” You want to know the dos and don'ts of momma-wedding-wear, so we're spilling the beans!

Talk It Out ::When it comes to shopping it's no secret that it's a ritual for girls to consult friends and fam! Dress-shopping for your daughter's big day? No exception! Talk to the bride before you hit the stores regarding color, style, length and formality. The bride's wishes will make great guidelines when you're on the hunt for that darling mother-of-the-bride dress.

From One Mom to Another ::When you select a dress to wear, keep the mother-of-the-groom updated about color, style and length. While mom-dresses usually have the same skirt and sleeve length, the colors (while complementary to each other and the bridal party) are usually different. Keeping communication lines open from one mom to another will prevent overdressing and fashion faux pas. Go moms!

Colors of the Rainbow ::You already know that the colors white, ivory and champagne are out of the question. All the same, it's in your best interest to stray away from black dresses, or anything that might be considered flashy, like fire-engine red! So, what does that leave you with? When choosing a color, keep the hues of the bridal party dress in mind. Your daughter will want to have perfect pictures, which means you'll want to choose a color that complements the bridesmaid dresses. TWC tip? Go a shade lighter or darker than the BMs. If the bride's beautiful buds are sporting an eggplant purple, go lovely lavender. If they're donning baby blue, rock nautical navy!

Shops Away ::Now that you know what to look for, you're probably wondering, where to look for it. Try stopping in at department stores... hello Macy's and Nordstrom! You may even strike gold at a formal-wear shop or a bridal boutique. While the sky is the limit on store choice, do stray away from ordering a dress via the internet. Dress color and sizing vary greatly on the world wide web. Our tip? Use the internet as a research tool to find a dress style/color that you like and use it as a starting point on your search.

From floor length dresses to semi-short and sassy, the dress you decide on should portray your style, compliment the wedding party and make YOU feel fabulous! After all, your daughter's wedding day is a BIG DEAL!
